Pleasantly surprised

One of the things that I find most frustrating about gigging is trying to sort our equipment. Usually when we play live, we’ll play a “gig night” with two or three other bands or artists. Each band will have their own guitar amps or drums or whatever, so it’s often a good idea to get in contact with the other bands before the gig
to sort out exactly which equipment the bands can share (if any).

Our gig last week at Native Tongue was a bit of an exception. The venue supplied all the drums, and amplifiers and it was great. All we did was turn up, plug in our instruments and played

What normally happens is you send an email to the other bands on the bill sayting something like “Looking forward to the gig. What equipment is everyone going to bring? We’ve go guitar amp/bass amp/whatever.”
And usually, you hear absolutely nothing from them – zip – and it’s so annoying because you’re never sure if you’re actually going to have enough equipment to play your set

So, we’re playing tonight at Camden Rock and I sent out the usual email and I actually got a response. One of the other bands was actually helpful and friendly, told us what they had and what they’d like us to bring!

I was very pleasantly surprised!

I’m really looking forward to tonight, we should be better than ever.
